Product Overview

The HT400FHD-350 is a standard 40" edge-lit LCD panel built for embedded systems and commercial display terminals — kiosks, digital signage, and open-frame enclosures. Beyond full-panel supply, we also offer panel cutting / shape customization engineering services, machining standard 32–55" panels into the non-standard dimensions or irregular outlines your enclosure requires — for narrow embedded dashboards, video-wall bezels, or other custom-form installations.

1. Process Feasibility & Technical Assessment

Cutting method selectionBased on your target dimensions and tolerance requirements, we determine whether mechanical wheel cutting or ultra-fast laser cutting is appropriate:

  • For tolerances of ±0.5mm or looser, with straight-edge outlines, mechanical wheel cutting is usually preferred for better cost and lead time.

  • For tighter tolerances (±0.1–0.3mm), curved/irregular outlines, or cuts near circuit traces, ultra-fast laser cutting is used — it produces a smaller heat-affected zone and more controllable edge stress.

Circuit trace clearanceWhether a cut line will interfere with the original panel's Gate/Source traces or the active TFT array must be evaluated case by case against the panel's internal circuit layout. To make an accurate feasibility call, we'll need from you:

  • Target cutting dimensions/outline drawings (DXF/DWG preferred)

  • Mounting mechanism cutouts, clip/latch positions, and required clearance zones

  • Any additional requirements — trace rerouting, indicator LED holes, sensor cutouts, etc.

Once drawings are received, our engineering team issues a written feasibility report noting whether the cut line touches trace areas and whether driver IC bonding position or trace routing needs adjustment.

2. Reliability & Edge-Sealing Assurance

Sealing processSealing the cut edge against liquid leakage and moisture ingress is critical to long-term reliability. We apply a secondary sealing process (e.g., UV dispensing/line coating) to the cut edge, blocking the direct path between the liquid crystal layer and the external environment. Adhesive selection and dispensing method are determined by the cut shape, edge length, and your operating environment (outdoor / semi-outdoor / indoor).

Reliability testingCut TFT modules can be qualified to consumer-grade or industrial-grade standards, including but not limited to:

Optical performanceLight leakage or Mura (color shift) risk at the sealed edge is mainly a function of the distance between the cut line and the active display area, backlight module design, and sealant thickness. During design review, we recommend an edge clearance margin based on your specific outline and provide measured optical data at the sampling stage for your confirmation.


3. Cost, Yield & Lead Time

NRE & sampling costNRE (engineering development) cost for a custom cutting project depends mainly on the complexity of the cutting process, the amount of trace-clearance design work, and whether new tooling/fixtures are needed. A firm quote is issued after drawing review. Initial small-batch samples (e.g., 20 pcs) typically ship within a few weeks of drawing confirmation — exact lead time is confirmed in the formal quotation.

Volume production expectations

  • Mass-production yield varies with cutting outline complexity and tolerance requirements. Simple straight-edge cuts generally achieve higher yield; yield for complex irregular cuts is assessed based on actual sample-stage data.

  • Standard products have an MOQ of 1 unit. MOQ for custom cutting, shape customization, or special brightness requirements is confirmed at the quotation stage — not adjusted after deposit.
