2. Cutting Process & Design Feasibility
Cutting method.We evaluate every custom aspect ratio against two processes and select per case:
Mechanical wheel cutting (scribe‑and‑break): lower cost, suitable for straight-line cuts with standard tolerance (typically ±0.3–0.5mm), best for larger production volumes on simple rectangular geometries.
Ultra-fast laser cutting (cold cutting): used when the cut line is close to the active array, when tolerance requirements are tighter (±0.1–0.2mm), or when micro-crack risk at the edge must be minimized. We recommend laser cutting by default for any cut line running within ~5mm of the TFT array or Gate/Source bus lines.
The final recommendation depends on your target aspect ratio, cut-line proximity to circuitry, and production volume — confirmed at the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) review stage below.
Circuit clearance (Gate/Source & TFT array).Every mother-panel SKU has a fixed Gate driver, Source driver and TFT array layout. Before any cut is approved, our engineering team maps your requested cut dimensions against the mother panel's internal circuit layout to confirm there is no interference with active routing. Where a requested dimension is too close to the drive circuitry, we propose the nearest feasible alternative dimension rather than force a non-viable cut.
Information required for feasibility review (DFM stage). To issue a written feasibility confirmation, please provide:
Target active area / cut dimensions (W × H) and required tolerance
Target aspect ratio and mounting orientation
Mechanical drawing or DXF of the housing/refrigerator cavity the panel must fit
Preferred interface (LVDS/HDMI/eDP) and any brightness/touch requirements
Expected annual volume (for cutting-method and MOQ planning)
Edge quality standard.Post-cut edges are inspected under magnification against an internal standard for edge chipping, flatness and micro-crack length. Edges exceeding our micro-crack tolerance are rejected at 100% AQI before sealing — this is a hold point in our process, not a sampling check.
3. Reliability & Edge-Sealing Assurance
Sealing process.Every cut edge receives a secondary sealing process (UV-cure edge dispensing) to restore moisture and liquid-crystal leakage protection that is lost when the original factory edge seal is cut through. Dispensing path, bead width and cure profile are controlled per panel model to fully re-seal the cut edge without extending into the active display area.
Reliability testing.Cut-and-sealed modules are validated against standard environmental test protocols before release, and we can share test reports/benchmark data from comparable bar-cut programs on request, covering:
High-temperature / high-humidity storage (e.g., 85°C/85%RH "double 85" test)
Thermal shock / cold-hot cycling
Structural drop testing
Consumer-grade or industrial-grade acceptance criteria — test level selected to match your end-application (we will confirm which standard applies to your program during quotation)
Optical performance after sealing.Post-seal panels are inspected for light leakage at the cut edge and for Mura (color shift / brightness non-uniformity) near the seal line under standard viewing conditions, as part of final QC before shipment.
