This module is manufactured by cutting a standard 32" TFT-LCD panel into a 28.6" ultra-wide bar format — a common and cost-efficient approach for producing non-standard aspect ratios (digital signage bars, elevator displays, checkout counters, transit information panels) without requiring a dedicated glass mold.

2. Technical Process & Feasibility

Cutting methodFor this class of ultra-wide format, we evaluate both mechanical wheel scribing and CO₂/UV laser cutting on a case-by-case basis, depending on target tolerance and panel structure:

  • Mechanical scribe-and-break — lower cost, suitable for straight-line cuts with standard tolerance (±0.3mm typical), widely used for high-volume stretched bar production.

  • Laser cutting — tighter edge tolerance and lower micro-crack risk, recommended when the cut line is close to active circuit regions or when higher structural reliability is required.

We select the method after reviewing your target dimension, tolerance requirement, and end-use environment (indoor kiosk vs. outdoor/vibration-exposed equipment).

Trace and circuit clearanceEvery custom cut is verified against the source panel's Gate/Source driving IC layout and TFT array boundary before cutting. To confirm feasibility at quotation stage, we typically request from the buyer:

  • Target cut dimensions and tolerance (drawing or sketch is sufficient at RFQ stage)

  • Intended mounting/bezel drawing (if the display integrates into an enclosure)

  • Interface requirement (raw LVDS panel vs. HDMI/VGA board-level module)

Our engineering team will confirm whether the requested cut line falls clear of the Gate/Source trace routing and COF/driver IC placement, and advise on the nearest feasible dimension if adjustment is needed.

Edge treatmentPost-cut edges are inspected under magnification against an internal standard for edge chipping and micro-crack length before proceeding to the sealing stage. Edge flatness and crack-control criteria are documented in our incoming/outgoing quality inspection records, available for review on request.


3. Reliability & Edge-Sealing Assurance

Sealing processAfter cutting, exposed glass edges are treated with a secondary UV-cure edge sealant (dispensed sealing) to prevent liquid crystal leakage and moisture ingress. This is a standard step in our stretched-bar production line, not an optional add-on.

Reliability testingCut panels go through the same reliability program as our standard modules, scoped to industrial or consumer grade depending on the target application:

  • Double 85 (85°C / 85% RH) high-temperature/humidity test

  • High/low temperature cycling (thermal shock)
