How an OEM/ODM Project Starts

  1. Share your spec — target outline/tolerance, interface, application environment, and volume expectation. A mechanical drawing (DXF/STEP) speeds up the feasibility review considerably.

  2. Feasibility & quotation — we confirm cut method, edge margin, and return a quote covering NRE, first-sample lead time, and MOQ. No tooling is committed before this is confirmed.

  3. First article sample — typically 2–3 weeks for standard configurations, 4–6 weeks where new cutting or sealing tooling is required.

  4. Qualification — you test the sample against your own acceptance criteria; we can supply our environmental test data in parallel.

  5. Mass production — MOQ starts from 1 unit for standard specs; custom cutting, brightness, or bezel changes may adjust MOQ, confirmed at quotation stage, not after.

Why This Product Exists

Standard 32" TFT panels are not naturally ultra-wide. To achieve the 3.56:1 bar-type aspect ratio increasingly requested for digital signage, self-checkout toppers, vending machines, ATMs, and embedded industrial HMIs, HITULCD precision-cuts a standard 32" a-Si TFT-LCD panel down to a 28.6" active display area (698.4×196.425 mm A.A.), then re-seals and re-qualifies it as a production-grade module.

This document is written for sourcing engineers, project managers, and technical buyers evaluating cut-panel bar displays, and answers the questions we are asked most often before an RFQ is issued.


1. Cutting Process & Design Feasibility

Cutting methodWe select the cutting method based on your tolerance requirements and glass thickness, not by default:

Circuit and trace clearanceBefore any cut is approved, our engineering team maps the Gate/Source driver IC placement and TFT array boundary of the source panel against your requested cut line. This determines:

  • Which side of the panel can be cut without severing active gate/source lines

  • Whether the driver board / COF needs to be relocated or re-flexed

  • The minimum safe margin between the new glass edge and the last active pixel row

What we need from you at the feasibility stage

  • Target outline dimensions (W × H) and tolerance class

  • Mounting/bezel drawing (DXF/STEP preferred) if the module integrates into an existing enclosure

  • Interface preference (LVDS pass-through vs. HDMI/VGA control board)

  • Any keep-out zones for existing mechanical fasteners or connectors

We return a cut-feasibility confirmation (with recommended method and edge margin) before quoting, so there are no surprises after tooling starts.

Edge finishingPost-cut edges are ground and polished to remove micro-cracks and sharp chipping. Edge flatness and micro-crack density are inspected under magnification against an internal AQL standard before a panel proceeds to sealing — panels outside spec are scrapped, not shipped.


2. Reliability & Edge Sealing

Sealing processEvery cut edge receives a secondary UV-cure edge-sealing process (dispensed, not brushed) to restore the moisture/liquid-crystal barrier that the original panel's factory seal provided. This is applied uniformly along the entire cut length, not only at high-risk corners.

Reliability validationCut modules are qualified against the same environmental battery used for our standard industrial products (industrial-grade by default; consumer-grade screening available if your application allows a lower spec):

  • 85°C / 85% RH (double-85) damp heat — sustained exposure test for seal integrity and moisture ingress

  • High/low temperature storage & operating cycling (-20°C to 60°C per datasheet operating range)

  • Thermal shock cycling — rapid transition testing at the sealed edge specifically, since this is the highest-risk zone for a cut panel

  • Structural drop testing — module-level, to confirm the cut edge does not become a stress-concentration failure point

We can share environmental test summary data for comparable cut-panel programs on request under NDA.

Optical performance after sealingThe known failure modes for cut-and-sealed panels are edge light leakage and Mura/color shift near the seal line. Our backlight frame and seal thickness are tuned per cut ratio to keep the seal within the bezel/mask coverage area, so leakage and color shift are inspected as a pass/fail criterion during final QC — not left to visual sampling only.
