56.6" Custom Stretched Bar LCD Display | Digital Signage OEM/ODM Solutions

Custom 56.6" Stretched Bar LCD Display for Digital Signage — OEM/ODM Manufacturer

1. Product Overview

The 56.6" stretched bar LCD display uses an ultra-wide aspect ratio panel (16:4.5 / 16:1.9 options available), purpose-built for narrow, non-standard installation spaces where a conventional 16:9 screen simply won't fit. Unlike "cut" panels made by physically trimming a standard LCD (which causes light leakage, edge shadowing, and inconsistent yield), we supply native stretched panels, delivering:

  • High brightness, 1000–3000 nits options, sunlight-readable in bright environments

  • LED backlight, low power consumption, backlight lifespan ≥100,000 hours

  • 178°/178° wide viewing angle, consistent color from any position

  • Multiple interface options: HDMI / DP / DVI / V-by-One

  • Industrial-grade design for continuous 24/7 operation

  • Operating temperature 0°C to 50°C, suitable for semi-outdoor environments

These characteristics make the product a natural fit for commercial applications that demand narrow installation footprints, uninterrupted long-term operation, high brightness, and wide-angle visibility — not for the consumer display market.

2. Target Markets

Retail Shelf-Edge Systems

Shelf-edge bar displays in supermarkets and convenience stores, used for synchronized pricing and promotional content. The narrow bar form factor is purpose-built for shelving structures — currently the largest single application for stretched displays.

Elevator Advertising Networks

Screens installed inside elevator cabins or lobby waiting areas, where installation space is constrained by door frames or narrow wall panels — the standard hardware format for elevator media operators.

Rail Transit & Airports

Platform and check-in-area information/wayfinding screens requiring an ultra-wide format, long-distance readability, and stable 24/7 operation.

Gas Stations & Convenience Store Checkout

Advertising bar displays above checkout counters or near fuel pumps — narrow footprint, high exposure rate.

Brand Showrooms & Flagship Stores

Custom shaped displays for artistic installations and window displays, where clients prioritize appearance customization and mounting flexibility.

Common thread: non-standard installation space, need for high brightness and wide viewing angle, unattended long-term operation, and B2B (not consumer) procurement.

56.6" Custom Stretched LCD for Digital Signage — Technical & Commercial Overview

Prepared for: Overseas Engineering Teams, Procurement Managers, Project LeadsProduct Category: Custom-Cut Stretched Bar LCD Module (Ultra-Wide Format)Application: Retail shelf-edge advertising, digital signage, transportation displays, creative/architectural installations

1. Product Summary

The 56.6" stretched bar LCD is a custom-cut ultra-wide display panel produced by trimming a standard TFT-LCD mother panel down to a bar-format aspect ratio, without sacrificing native resolution density or optical performance in the retained viewing area. This construction method allows buyers to source ultra-wide formats (commonly 5:1 to 32:1 aspect ratios) that are not available as standard panel SKUs from panel fabs, while keeping unit costs well below custom tooling of a new panel size.

Note: All dimensions and specifications are confirmed against the buyer's final drawing (DWG/DXF) before quotation is locked.

2. Technical Process & Feasibility Assessment

2.1 Cutting Method Recommendation

Two cutting technologies are available, selected based on the buyer's cut-line tolerance and edge-quality requirements:

  • Mechanical wheel-cutting (scribe-and-break): Lower cost, shorter lead time, standard for cut lines that do not run through active circuit traces. Typical tolerance ±0.3–0.5 mm.

  • Ultra-fast laser cutting (cold/pico-second laser): Recommended when the cut line is close to the Gate/Source driving circuit or TFT array edge, when micro-crack risk must be minimized, or when tolerance requirements are tighter (±0.1–0.2 mm achievable). Laser cutting produces a cleaner edge with reduced mechanical stress but carries a higher NRE and slightly longer sample cycle.

The recommended method is confirmed case-by-case after review of the buyer's target cut dimension against the base panel's internal layout.

2.2 Circuit Clearance Review

Before any cutting proposal is finalized, the base panel's Gate driver IC position, Source driver IC position, COF/TAB bonding area, and active TFT array boundary are checked against the requested cut line to confirm there is no interference.

To begin feasibility review, the following is required from the buyer:

  • Target viewable dimensions and overall tolerance (drawing in DWG/DXF or dimensioned PDF)

  • Preferred aspect ratio / resolution requirement

  • Mounting method and installation depth (if housing integration is needed)

  • Intended brightness/environment (indoor, semi-outdoor, outdoor)

  • Target quantity for sampling and for mass production

Upon receipt, the base panel's internal circuit layout is checked and a cut-line feasibility confirmation is issued before sample production begins.

2.3 Edge Finishing Standard

Post-cut edges are ground and polished to remove sharp burrs. Standard acceptance criteria for edge flatness and micro-crack control:

  • No visible chipping >0.1 mm along the cut edge under 10x magnification inspection

  • No propagating micro-cracks beyond the cut line under standard QC sampling (AQL 1.0)

  • Edge squareness within panel tolerance class agreed at DFM (Design for Manufacturing) stage

3. Reliability & Edge-Sealing Assurance

3.1 Sealing Process

After cutting, the exposed edge is treated with a secondary sealing process to prevent liquid crystal leakage and moisture ingress:

  • UV-cure edge sealant (dispensed/dotted along the cut edge) is the standard method, applied under controlled dispensing to fully cover the LC layer boundary without intruding into the active display area.

  • For higher environmental exposure requirements, a secondary silicone or epoxy conformal edge coating can be added as a second barrier layer — available on request for outdoor/semi-outdoor projects.

3.2 Reliability Testing

Cut-and-sealed modules are qualified against consumer-grade or industrial-grade standards depending on the deployment environment (to be confirmed per project). Reference test items typically applied to cut-edge samples:

TestReference Condition
High-Temp/High-Humidity (Double 85)85°C / 85% RH, 96–240 hrs depending on grade
High/Low Temperature Storage-20°C to +60°C (indoor grade) / -30°C to +70°C (industrial grade)
Thermal Shock (Cold-Hot Cycling)-20°C ↔ +60°C, ≥50 cycles
Structural Drop TestPer packaging class, simulating transport handling

Test reports and sample data from comparable cut-panel projects can be shared under NDA upon qualified inquiry, so the buyer's engineering team can benchmark against their own internal reliability requirements.

3.3 Optical Performance at the Cut Edge

A properly sealed and ground edge should show no light leakage and no visible color shift (Mura) within the active viewing area. Edge-zone optical inspection (100% visual check under standard signage viewing angle, supplemented by sampling under darkroom conditions) is part of the standard outgoing QC process. Any Mura risk is assessed and mitigated at the DFM stage before mass cutting begins, rather than discovered post-production.

4. Cost, Yield & Lead Time

4.1 NRE & Sampling

  • A one-time NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) fee applies to new custom cut dimensions, covering feasibility review, cutting jig/fixture setup, and first-article inspection. Exact NRE is quoted per project based on cut complexity and cutting method (mechanical vs. laser).

  • First sample batch (typical reference quantity: 20 pcs) lead time: 10–15 business days from drawing confirmation, assuming base panel is in stock; longer if base panel sourcing is required.

4.2 Mass Production Yield & MOQ

  • Expected mass-production yield for a qualified/validated cut profile is discussed and committed per project after the DFM and sample validation stages — yield depends on cut-line proximity to circuit areas, panel size, and cutting method selected.

  • Standard MOQ for custom cut aspect ratios: quantities from 50 units and up are typically required to amortize tooling/NRE; project-specific MOQ is confirmed at quotation stage.

  • Lead time for mass production: 4–6 weeks for standard custom orders, 6–8 weeks for bulk orders of 500+ units, with a firm production schedule confirmed in writing before deposit.
