OEM / ODM Custom-Cut Bar LCD Solutions — Any Size, Built to Your Enclosure
Your enclosure defines the display. We cut, seal, validate and deliver a bar-type TFT-LCD module to the exact dimension your project needs — from engineering feasibility to mass production.
Start a Custom Size Project · Send Us Your Drawing · Talk to an Engineer
1. The Problem With Catalog Sizes
Bar and stretched displays are used where space is fixed and unusual: a supermarket shelf rail, a bus interior header, a machine control strip, an elevator panel, a kiosk top. In almost every one of these projects, the mechanical opening comes first — and no catalog panel matches it.
Engineering teams usually face three bad options:
| Common workaround | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Redesign the enclosure around a standard panel | Delayed schedule, added tooling cost, compromised industrial design |
| Order a brand-new custom glass size | High NRE, very high MOQ, long lead time |
| Use an oversized display and mask it | Wasted space, cost, power and weight |
Custom-cut bar LCD is the fourth option: start from a proven, mass-produced panel and trim it to your dimension — with a validated process for cutting, edge sealing, backlight matching and optical control.
2. What We Offer
We provide cutting solutions for bar-type LCD displays across a wide size range, covering the 18.5" to 55" class, with cuttable base platforms including 18.5", 21.5", 23.8", 27", 28", 32" and 40". One axis is trimmed to your target dimension, and the module is delivered ready to integrate.
| Service | What you get |
|---|---|
| Custom cut-to-size | Length or width trimmed to your required dimension and tolerance |
| Custom aspect ratio | Non-standard bar ratios for OEM orders of 50+ units |
| Backlight re-engineering | Light guide, LED strip and diffuser stack re-matched to the cut panel |
| Brightness options | 500 – 1000 nits for indoor, transit and semi-outdoor use |
| Interface & driver board | LVDS, HDMI, VGA, industrial controller boards, custom timing and EDID |
| Mechanical integration | Front bezel, bracket, heat dissipation, housing adaptation |
| Touch & optical | Capacitive touch, anti-glare, anti-reflection, optical bonding |
| Validation & documentation | Feasibility report, reliability testing, FAI report, RoHS/REACH declaration |
"Any size" means any size that is physically and electrically feasible on the base panel. We confirm the achievable range in a written feasibility review before any commitment, so you never invest in a design that cannot be built reliably.

1. Product Overview
Standard LCD glass sizes rarely match real-world enclosures. Shelf rails, bus interiors, kiosk headers and machine control panels each demand a different strip length — and tooling a new glass size for a low-volume project is rarely economical.
The 28" Cuttable Stretched Bar LCD solves this. Built on a proven 1920×360 IPS bar-type panel, it allows the panel to be trimmed on one axis to a non-standard dimension during OEM integration, so your hardware fits the enclosure — not the other way around.
Our engineering team supports the full process: feasibility review → cutting method selection → edge sealing → optical and reliability validation → pilot build → mass production. You receive a documented, repeatable process rather than a one-off modification.
Why engineers and sourcing teams choose it
Fit your enclosure, not a catalog size — trim to a custom length without a new glass tooling investment.
Sharp, readable 1920×360 output — full 1920-pixel horizontal resolution for text, price data, route maps and dashboards.
Sunlight-ready brightness — 700 nits typical for bright retail, in-vehicle and semi-outdoor locations.
Wide IPS viewing — 89°/89°/89°/89° for consistent color from any mounting angle.
Long-life LED backlight — 50,000 hours typical.
Pre-defined engineering process — documented feasibility check, sealing process and reliability plan before you commit to volume.

3. Cuttable Panel Engineering
Cutting a TFT-LCD is not a simple mechanical trim. It affects the array layout, edge integrity, sealing, and optical uniformity. Below is how we manage each risk area, based on the questions we most often receive from OEM engineering and quality teams.
3.1 Cutting Method, Tolerance and Feasibility
Cutting method. We select the method per project:
| Method | Best for | Typical tolerance |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical wheel scribe & break | Standard cuts, cost-sensitive volume | ±0.20 mm |
| Ultrafast (picosecond) laser cutting | Tight tolerance, low-chipping, complex contours | ±0.05–0.10 mm |
Wiring and circuit avoidance. Every cut is checked against the panel's internal design before approval. The trimmed axis is chosen so the cut line stays clear of the gate/source fan-out routing, TFT array, seal line and driver IC bonding areas, and a defined keep-out margin is preserved between the cut line and the active area and seal.
What we need from you to confirm feasibility:
Target cut dimension and tolerance requirement
Enclosure / mechanical drawing (STEP or DXF/PDF)
Required mounting orientation and bezel design
Target brightness, interface and operating environment
Estimated annual volume and pilot quantity
We return a feasibility report with the proposed cut line overlaid on the panel drawing, the achievable size range, and any identified risks.
3.2 Edge Quality Control
Glass edge quality directly affects mechanical strength and long-term reliability. Our inspection standards for cut edges:
| Item | Typical acceptance criteria |
|---|---|
| Edge chipping | ≤ 0.2 mm (no chipping into seal or active area) |
| Micro-cracks | None visible under 50× microscope inspection at the edge |
| Edge straightness | ≤ 0.1 mm over 100 mm |
| Edge treatment | Chamfer / fine grinding where specified |
| Sampling | Per AQL 0.65 (major) / 1.5 (minor), ISO 2859-1 |
3.3 Sealing and Moisture Protection
After cutting, the exposed cell edge is re-sealed to prevent liquid crystal leakage and moisture ingress:
Secondary edge sealing with UV-curable adhesive, applied by controlled dispensing to a defined bead profile.
Full UV cure and post-cure inspection for coverage, voids and adhesive overflow.
Leak and moisture check through post-seal inspection and environmental testing (see 3.4).
Sealed edge is designed to be covered by your bezel or frame in the final assembly.
3.4 Reliability Validation
Trimmed modules are validated against industry-standard test methods. Standard test plan (adjustable to your industry requirement — consumer, commercial or industrial):
| Test | Method / Reference | Typical condition |
|---|---|---|
| High-temperature storage | IEC 60068-2-2 | +80 °C, 240 h |
| Low-temperature storage | IEC 60068-2-1 | −30 °C, 240 h |
| High-temperature operation | IEC 60068-2-2 | +70 °C, 240 h |
| Low-temperature operation | IEC 60068-2-1 | −20 °C, 240 h |
| "Double-85" damp heat | IEC 60068-2-78 | 85 °C / 85% RH, 240–500 h |
| Thermal shock | IEC 60068-2-14 | −30 °C ↔ +80 °C, 30 min dwell, 100 cycles |
| Random vibration | IEC 60068-2-64 | 1.5 Grms, 3 axes |
| Mechanical shock | IEC 60068-2-27 | 50 G, 11 ms, 3 axes |
| Packaging drop | ISTA 1A / IEC 60068-2-31 | Per carton weight |
Pass criteria: no functional failure, no liquid crystal leakage, no delamination, no visible seal degradation, and optical parameters within ±10% of pre-test values.
📄 Test reports from comparable cutting projects are available under NDA on request.
3.5 Optical Performance After Cutting
Edge regions are the most sensitive area for optical defects. We control them with:
Light-leakage control — light-shielding tape / bezel design guidance to eliminate edge bleed.
Backlight matching — the backlight/LGP is trimmed and re-aligned to match the cut cell, keeping brightness uniformity consistent.
Mura and color-shift screening — inspection at edges under white, gray and color test patterns.
| Optical criterion | Typical target |
|---|---|
| Brightness uniformity (9-point) | ≥ 75% |
| Edge light leakage | None visible in normal viewing |
| Color shift at edge | Δu'v' within specified limit |
4. Cost, Yield and Lead Time
| Item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| NRE (engineering + tooling/fixtures) | Project-based — quoted after feasibility review. Often credited against a committed volume order. |
| Pilot build | 20 pcs (typical) |
| Sample lead time | 15–25 working days after drawing and cut-dimension approval |
| Mass production yield (cutting process) | ≥ 95% target after process validation |
| MOQ — custom cut | 50 pcs |
