Custom-Cut Bar LCD Displays for OEM & ODM Projects
Your enclosure defines the display. We cut, seal, and integrate the bar LCD to fit it.
Standard LCD sizes rarely match real-world hardware. Product designers end up compromising on bezels, layouts, or user experience, or they pay for expensive custom glass and wait months for it. HITULCD gives you a third option: an engineered cutting-and-integration service that turns proven, mass-produced panels into the exact bar-shaped display your product needs.
From 18.5" to 55" source panels, we can deliver a custom-cut stretched TFT LCD in the width, height, and aspect ratio your project requires, within the physical limits of the source panel, which we verify with you before any commitment.

Why OEMs and Product Teams Choose Custom-Cut Bar LCDs
| Your Challenge | How Custom Cutting Solves It |
|---|---|
| Standard 16:9 / 4:3 panels don't fit a narrow or long enclosure | Trim to a bar format (e.g., 8:3, 4:1, or your own ratio) that matches your housing |
| New custom glass means high tooling cost and long lead time | Start from a proven, mass-produced panel: no new glass generation, no new mask set |
| Fixed sizes force awkward bezels or wasted space | Get a display sized to your active-area window, with a clean and compact fit |
| Low volumes (50–1,000 pcs) don't justify a panel-maker's custom order | Our MOQ starts at 50 pcs for custom-cut projects |
| Risk of reliability failures on cut panels | Sealed edges, light-shielding, and environmental validation on every project |

| Source Panel Family | Typical Use of Cut Version | Custom Cutting |
|---|---|---|
| 18.5" – 23.8" | Shelf-edge labels, compact machine dashboards, appliance control strips | ✔ |
| 27" – 32" | Retail promo bars, elevator/transit info strips, mid-size HMI | ✔ |
| 40" and above | Large-format ultra-wide signage, transit route/departure boards, window displays | ✔ (feasibility-reviewed) |
Examples of formats customers commonly request (illustrative, not limited to these):
| Format | Aspect Ratio | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| 1920 × 720 | 8:3 | Vehicle dashboards, industrial HMI, retail bars |
| 1920 × 540 | 32:9 | Transit information, shelf-edge signage |
| 1920 × 480 | 4:1 | Ultra-slim signage, control-panel strips |
| Custom | Any ratio within the panel's cuttable zone | Your enclosure, your layout |
How far can we go? The final size depends on the source panel's internal layout (active area, seal line, gate/source routing, driver-IC zones). We review this for every request and tell you exactly what is achievable, often proposing a nearby dimension that improves yield and reliability without changing your design.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you really cut to any size?We can cut to virtually any dimension within the cuttable zone of the source panel. Because the panel contains fixed routing and driver areas, every request is verified in a feasibility review first. If your exact dimension isn't possible, we propose the closest workable alternative, or another source panel that will achieve it.
Can both width and height be customized? Our cuttable series is trimmed on one axis. If your design needs a change on both axes, we will review it separately and recommend the best option.
What happens to the resolution after cutting? The active area is reduced on the cut axis. We adapt the timing and mapping and confirm the final resolution in the feasibility report so your software team can plan early.
Will a cut panel survive industrial or outdoor-adjacent conditions?Yes, with the right configuration. Share your temperature, humidity, vibration, and sunlight conditions and we'll recommend the appropriate brightness, sealing, and optical options.
Is my design confidential?Yes. We sign an NDA before receiving drawings, and your custom dimensions and integration details are used only for your project.
Do you support small pilot runs?Yes. We provide evaluation panels and prototype batches so you can validate before committing to volume.

Cuttable Panel Engineering – What Engineers and Buyers Need to Know
Cutting a finished TFT panel is a precision engineering process, not a simple trim. Below is how we approach it, structured around the questions our OEM customers ask most often.
1. Cutting Process and Feasibility
Which cutting method do you use?We select the method per project based on tolerance, edge quality, and volume:
| Method | Typical Tolerance | Edge Quality | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mechanical scribing / wheel cutting + edge grinding | ±0.20 mm | Good, ground and chamfered | Cost-optimized volume runs, standard tolerances |
| Ultrafast (picosecond) laser cutting | ±0.05 – 0.10 mm | Excellent, minimal chipping, minimal heat-affected zone | Tight tolerances, tight bezels, premium projects |
Can you cut without damaging the TFT array or the gate/source routing?Feasibility depends on where the cut line falls relative to the panel's active area, sealant line, and peripheral routing (gate/source fan-out, GOA circuits, common-electrode lines, and driver-IC areas). Only certain zones of the panel can safely be cut. Our engineers review every request against the panel's design before any quote is confirmed, and we will tell you plainly if the requested dimension is not feasible.
What do we need from you for the feasibility review? Please send:
Target cut dimension and tolerance (2D drawing, DXF/STEP/PDF)
Enclosure / bezel drawing showing the active-area window
Required brightness, interface, operating temperature range, and touch requirement
Estimated annual volume and sample quantity
From our side we provide the panel mechanical drawing, cuttable-zone definition, and a feasibility report (typically within 3–5 working days).
What are your edge quality standards?
Edge chipping: ≤ 0.2 mm, no chip propagating toward the seal line or active area
Zero visible cracks under 10× inspection at the cut edge
Edge flatness/perpendicularity: ≤ 0.1 mm (laser) / ≤ 0.2 mm (mechanical)
Chamfer or polish on request for handling safety and bezel fit
100% in-line inspection for edge defects, followed by AQL sampling at outgoing QC
2. Edge Sealing and Reliability
How is the cut edge sealed against moisture and liquid crystal leakage? After cutting and cleaning, the exposed cell edge is sealed with a UV-curable acrylic/epoxy edge sealant applied by automated dispensing for consistent bead width and height, then cured under controlled UV dose. A second protective layer (black shielding adhesive or edge tape) is applied where optical control or mechanical protection is needed. The process is validated with the environmental tests below.
What reliability testing is performed on cut modules?
| Test | Typical Condition | Acceptance |
|---|---|---|
| High-temperature / high-humidity ("double 85") | 85 °C / 85% RH, 240 h (500 h on request) | No leakage, no delamination, no display defects |
| High-temperature storage | 80 °C, 240 h | Function and appearance OK |
| Low-temperature storage | −30 °C, 240 h | Function and appearance OK |
| High-temperature operation | 70 °C, 240 h | Function and appearance OK |
| Low-temperature operation | −20 °C, 240 h | Function and appearance OK |
| Thermal shock | −30 °C ↔ +80 °C, 30 min dwell, 100 cycles | No edge cracking, seal failure, or optical change |
| Vibration | IEC 60068-2-6, 10–500 Hz, packaged and unpackaged | No mechanical or functional failure |
| Package drop | ISTA-2A / ASTM D4169 method | No panel damage |
Test reports for comparable cut projects can be shared under NDA, and customer-specific test plans (including your own standards) can be agreed during sampling.
Will light leakage or color shift appear at the cut edge?Edge light leakage and Mura are the main optical risks of any cut panel. We control them by:
Cutting the backlight (light guide plate, films) to match the panel, with a dedicated light-shielding frame on the cut side
Applying black edge shielding adhesive along the cut edge
Optical inspection at nominal and at maximum brightness on a dark pattern, with defined edge-zone uniformity limits (target ≥ 75%, 9-point) and no visible white/yellow edge Mura from the normal viewing angle
Retaining the original polarizer/optical stack outside the cut zone
3. Cost, Yield, and Lead Time
| Item | Typical Terms |
|---|---|
| Custom cutting MOQ | 50 pcs per order (custom size) |
| Standard uncut panel MOQ | 1 pc (samples), volume by quotation |
| Prototype / first sample (e.g., 20 pcs) | 2 – 3 weeks after drawing confirmation and NRE payment |
| Mass production lead time | 4 – 6 weeks after sample approval |
| Expected mass-production yield | ≥ 95% (target, after process validation on your design) |
| NRE | Project-based (covers cutting program, jigs/fixtures, and engineering); quoted after the feasibility review and can be credited against agreed volume |
Yield depends heavily on the cut line location, tolerance, and edge-quality specification. Tighter limits and laser cutting increase unit cost; we will present cost-versus-tolerance options during quotation so you can choose the right balance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cut the panel on both axes? The cuttable design allows trimming on one axis only. Two-axis custom sizes require a separate feasibility study and may not be possible.
Does cutting change the resolution?Trimming reduces the active area on the cut axis. The controller timing and mapping are adapted accordingly, and we confirm the final resolution and pixel layout in the feasibility report.
Is the cut panel still suitable for industrial environments?Yes, provided the version and sealing options are matched to the environment. Tell us your temperature, humidity, and vibration profile and we will recommend the appropriate configuration.
Do you offer an evaluation kit?Yes. We can supply the panel with a driver board for bench evaluation before you commit to a cut design.
