OEM / ODM Custom Bar LCD Cutting Solutions

Any size. Any aspect ratio. Engineered from standard open cells, cut to your outline, sealed and delivered as a complete LCD module.

Your product does not have to be built around a standard 16:9 panel. Whether you need a shelf-edge strip, an in-vehicle information bar, a control-panel header or a 32:9 signage display, we can turn a standard mass-produced panel into a stretched bar LCD that fits your design, at a cost far below a fully custom glass line.

Why Bar-Type Displays Are in Demand

Ultra-wide bar displays are moving from niche to mainstream. Standard panel sizes do not match the shapes that modern products and spaces need.

MarketTypical demand
Retail and shelf-edgePrice, promotion and video strips along shelves, gondolas and counters
Digital signageWindow-facing, ceiling-hung and wall-mounted advertising bars
TransportationPassenger information over doors and aisles in buses, trains and metros; platform and station displays
Kiosk, vending and EV chargingHeader and side-strip displays that fit slim enclosures
Industrial and OEM equipmentControl-panel strips, dashboards and instrument clusters
Hospitality and F&BMenu boards, order-status bars, drive-through displays

For these projects, a standard 16:9 panel means paying for screen area you do not need and designing around unused space. A bar display that fits the space is smaller, lighter and cheaper to integrate.

What We Offer

OEM: Build to Your Specification

You provide the outline, resolution, brightness and interface. We cut, seal, assemble and test the module to your drawing and deliver it under your part number and packaging.

ODM: We Design the Solution With You

You describe the application and the space. Our engineers propose the panel source, cutting layout, backlight, driver board, mechanical structure and optional touch or cover glass, then take it through prototyping to mass production.

Cut-to-Size Range

We work from a wide range of open cell sizes. Common source panels and the bar formats they produce are shown below.

Source panel (16:9)Bar format (1/2 cut, approx. active area)Typical resolution
32"~709 × 199 mm1920 × 540
40"~886 × 249 mm (see HT360HDL-500)1920 × 540
43"~952 × 268 mm1920 × 540
49"~1085 × 305 mm1920 × 540
55"~1218 × 342 mm1920 × 540
4K sources (43" to 65")Half-height 4K bar3840 × 1080

Other ratios such as 1/3 and 1/4 heights, or a non-standard width, are available where the panel design allows it. Send us the size you need and we will match the best source panel to it.

Engineering note: Cut dimensions are bounded by the source panel's active area, its gate/source fan-out and driver placement. Every request goes through a feasibility review, and we tell you clearly if a size cannot be cut safely and offer the closest alternative.

Our Cutting and Module Engineering Process

1. Requirement review. You send target size and tolerance, resolution, brightness, interface, environment and volume. Drawings in DXF, DWG or STEP are welcome, and a sketch is fine to start.

2. Feasibility and panel matching. We check the cutting line against the gate/source routing and TFT array area of candidate open cells, and select the panel that gives the best combination of size, cost and supply stability.

3. Cutting method selection. Mechanical wheel scribe-and-break is our standard choice for straight cuts, being proven and economical. Ultra-fast laser cutting is used for tighter tolerances, narrow borders and special outlines.

4. Edge treatment and sealing. Cut edges are inspected for chipping and micro-cracks, then sealed against liquid leakage and moisture with UV-curing sealant, and a secondary barrier where the application requires it.

5. Module assembly. Backlight, light guide, frame, driver board and cabling are redesigned to the new outline to control edge light leakage and color shift.

6. Validation. Samples are tested against standard industrial conditions, including high-temperature and high-humidity, temperature cycling, thermal shock, vibration and packaged drop tests. Test reports can be provided under NDA.

7. Approval and mass production. After sample sign-off, we lock the process, inspection criteria and packaging, and move to volume production.

Why Work With Us

  • Any-size flexibility. One engineering team covers many source panels and cut formats, so you avoid a separate supplier per size.

  • Lower cost than fully custom glass. Cutting standard mass-produced panels avoids the tooling and MOQ of a dedicated panel line.

  • Fast iteration. A prototype typically takes 2 to 4 weeks after drawing approval, much faster than a new-panel development cycle.

  • Engineering transparency. You receive a feasibility report, cutting-line drawing and 3D outline for approval before we cut anything.

  • Reliability by process. Edge inspection, sealing and validation are part of the standard flow rather than an afterthought.

  • From prototype to volume. The same team supports sampling, pilot runs and mass production, with consistent quality control.

Brightness500 cd/m² (typ.)
InterfaceLVDS, 51 pins

1. Product Overview

The HT360HDL-500 is an ultra-wide bar-type LCD module with a native resolution of 1920×540 and an aspect ratio of about 3.5:1. Rather than using a standard-format panel and hiding half of it behind a bezel, the module is produced by precision-cutting a 40" FHD (1920×1080) panel to half height. The result is a true bar display with the pixel density and IPS image quality of a mainstream panel, in a form factor that standard catalogs rarely offer.

Typical use cases:

  • Digital signage: shelf-edge, store-front and window-facing displays

  • Transportation: in-vehicle passenger information, platform and station strip displays

  • Retail and hospitality: menu boards, promotional bars, checkout and counter displays

  • Industrial and OEM: control-panel strips, kiosk and vending headers, dashboards and instrument clusters

  • Custom projects: any project that needs a specific width-to-height ratio not available from standard panels

A 4K 3840×1080 version is available for projects that need higher pixel density.

2. Key Features

  • Ultra-wide 3.5:1 active area (878.12 × 249.1 mm) for content that is naturally horizontal, such as tickers, timelines and multi-zone layouts.

  • IPS technology with 89°/89°/89°/89° viewing angles. Colors and contrast stay consistent when the screen is viewed from the side, which suits public spaces.

  • 500 cd/m² (typ.) WLED backlight for well-lit indoor environments, shop windows and transit interiors.

  • Standard LVDS 51-pin interface. It works with common signage SoCs, Android/Linux boards and LVDS controller boards, so integration is simple.

  • Slim module, 20 mm maximum thickness. It fits slim housings and narrow enclosures.

  • Modules built to a defined cutting and sealing process (see Section 4).

  • Customization available: brightness, cover glass or touch lamination, interface, connector direction, FPC/PCB position and bracket design.

4. Custom-Cut Process and Engineering Support

Most of the questions we hear from engineering teams concern how a cut panel is made and whether it is reliable. This section answers them.

4.1 Cutting Method and Feasibility Review

TopicOur approach
Cutting methodBoth mechanical wheel scribing and break, and ultra-fast (picosecond) laser cutting are available. Mechanical cutting is our recommendation for standard straight-line cuts because it is proven and cost-effective. Laser cutting is chosen for tight tolerances, narrow borders or complex outlines. The final choice is confirmed in the feasibility review.
Dimensional toleranceStandard cut-edge tolerance is ±0.2 mm for mechanical cutting. Tighter tolerances of ±0.1 mm are possible with laser cutting, subject to review.
Gate / Source routing and TFT arrayBefore quoting, we check the cutting line against the open cell's gate/source fan-out and TFT array area, so that the cut never crosses active circuitry. The cutting position is placed in the panel's designed margin area.
What we need from youYour target dimensions (W × H) and tolerances, the required interface and connector position, the mechanical drawing (DXF/DWG or STEP), the target application and operating environment, and the expected annual volume.
What we provideA feasibility report, a proposed cutting-line drawing and a 3D outline drawing for your approval before any cutting starts.
Edge qualityCut edges are inspected under microscope. The edge is checked for chipping and micro-cracks, and edge grinding or chamfering is applied where needed. Inspection criteria are agreed in the approval specification.

4.2 Edge Sealing and Reliability

TopicOur approach
Sealing processAfter cutting, the exposed cell edge is sealed with UV-curing sealant (dispensed) and, where required, a secondary moisture-barrier sealant. This prevents liquid crystal leakage and moisture ingress along the cut edge.
Reliability testingCut modules are validated against standard industrial LCD test conditions, including: high temperature and high humidity (60 °C / 90% RH, and 85 °C / 85% RH "double 85" on request), high and low temperature storage and operation, thermal shock cycling, vibration and packaged drop tests (ISTA-based). Test reports from similar projects are available under NDA.
Optical performance at the cut edgeBacklight structure and light-guide and frame layout are matched to the new outline to reduce light leakage and edge color shift (mura). Optical inspection at the edge is part of the sample approval.

Note: Operating conditions are 0 to 50 °C by default. For outdoor, in-vehicle or wider-temperature projects, please tell us early so we can propose the right panel grade, sealing option and backlight.

4.3 Cost, Lead Time and Volume

TopicTypical guidance
NRE (engineering and tooling)A one-time NRE charge covers the feasibility review, cutting program/fixtures and sample approval. The amount depends on the cutting method and design complexity, and is quoted after we review your drawing. For standard 1/2 cut formats such as this one, NRE is generally low.
Prototype lead timeSample lead time is typically 2–4 weeks after drawing approval and NRE confirmation. First-run sample quantity is typically 20 pcs.
Mass production lead timeTypically 4–6 weeks after PO and sample sign-off.
MOQStandard configuration: from 50 pcs (negotiable). Customized configuration: MOQ is confirmed with your quotation.
Production yieldYield targets are set jointly at sample approval and depend on cutting method and outline complexity. We share the incoming and outgoing inspection data with customers on serial projects.

5. Quality and Compliance

  • Manufacturing: ISO 9001 quality management system (please request the current certificate).

  • Inspection: 100% electrical and optical function test before shipment (dead pixel, mura, color uniformity, flicker).

  • Regulatory: the module is designed to support RoHS and REACH compliance. CE, FCC and UL testing apply at the end-product level, and we provide the component documentation you need for your certification file.

  • Warranty: 12 months standard (extended terms on request).

  • Packaging: ESD-safe protective packaging, packed in export cartons and pallets suitable for air and sea freight.
