OEM / ODM Custom Stretched Bar LCD Solutions
Any Bar Size. Cut, Sealed and Delivered as a Ready-to-Integrate Display Module.
From standard TFT panels to your exact aspect ratio: 8:3, 12:3, 16:4, 21:9, 32:9, 4:1 and beyond.
1. The Problem: Standard Panels Don't Fit Modern Product Designs
Product designers are moving away from 16:9. Shelf-edge labels, transit information strips, elevator headers, dashboard clusters, control-room status bars and smart appliance panels all need long, narrow displays. Yet fully custom LCD panels typically require:
High NRE and tooling costs
Long development cycles (6–12 months)
High minimum order quantities, often unrealistic for pilot or mid-volume projects
Our answer: we take a mature, mass-produced TFT-LCD panel and precision-cut it to your bar dimensions, then re-seal, re-assemble and deliver it as a complete module with backlight, driver board and mechanics. You get a bar display in your size, without the cost and risk of a new panel fab run.

| Custom (any) | Defined by your drawing |
Typical size envelope: diagonal from approx. 10" to 60"+ depending on the parent panel available. Length, width and cut position are defined by your mechanical drawing.
Reference project: HT451HBM, a 45.1" bar display (1920×720, 500 nits) cut from a 49" panel with a 2/3 cut, delivered with an HDMI/VGA control board.
Note: "Any size" is subject to the geometry of the parent panel, including gate/source fan-out, driver IC/COF position and seal area. We confirm feasibility before quoting.
4. Our Process: From Drawing to Volume Production
Requirement Review. You send drawings, target size, brightness, interface and environment.
Feasibility Study (24–48 h). We select the parent panel, check cutting line versus TFT array, Gate/Source routing and sealant width, and return a cut layout and risk assessment.
Engineering Samples (approx. 4–6 weeks for 20 pcs †). Cutting, edge sealing, backlight and driver assembly, followed by optical and electrical testing.
Validation. Reliability testing, optical inspection and mechanical fit check at your site.
Pilot Run. Process freeze and yield confirmation.
Mass Production (approx. 6–8 weeks †). 100% inspection, batch traceability and stable supply.
5. Cutting Technologies
| Method | Typical Tolerance † | Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical wheel cutting | ±0.2 mm | Cost-effective, proven for standard tolerance |
| Ultrafast (picosecond) laser cutting | ±0.05–0.1 mm | Low chipping, tight tolerance, complex outlines |
Both methods are followed by edge grinding/chamfering. We select the method based on glass thickness, the required tolerance and your budget.
6. Reliability by Design
Cutting exposes the cell edge. We treat this as the main risk and control it directly:
Edge cleaning and plasma treatment before sealing
UV-curable sealant with moisture-barrier secondary sealant where required
Light-shielding and bezel design to prevent edge light leakage and color shift
Microscope inspection of edge chipping and cracks
Validation tests (industrial-grade reference conditions):
| Test | Condition |
|---|---|
| High temperature operation | 50 °C, 240 h |
| High/low temperature storage | 70 °C / -20 °C, 240 h |

5. Engineering FAQ: Cutting, Sealing & Reliability
5.1 Cutting Process & Feasibility
Which cutting method do you use?We select the method based on glass thickness, target tolerance and the panel's edge structure.
| Method | Typical Tolerance | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical wheel cutting | ±0.2 mm | Cost-sensitive projects, standard tolerance |
| Ultrafast (picosecond) laser cutting | ±0.05–0.1 mm | Tight tolerance, low chipping, complex outlines |
Both methods are followed by edge grinding/chamfering.
Will the cut interfere with Gate/Source routing or the TFT array? The cutting line is planned in the non-active border zone. Before quoting, we check the cut position against the panel's gate/source fan-out, driver IC/COF position, common-electrode and shorting-bar area, and the seal (sealant) width. To start the feasibility assessment, please provide:
Your mechanical drawing (outline, active area, mounting holes) in DWG/DXF/STEP/PDF
Target display area and aspect ratio
Interface, brightness and operating environment requirements
Any special requirement on which side the driver ICs/FPC must be located
We then return a feasibility report and a cut layout drawing.
What edge quality is guaranteed? Our inspection targets are: chipping ≤ 0.1 mm (or ≤ ¼ of glass thickness); no visible cracks or microcracks propagating into the active area; and no cut-induced damage to the ITO/seal area, verified by microscope sampling.
5.2 Edge Sealing & Reliability
How do you prevent liquid crystal leakage and moisture ingress? After cutting, the exposed cell edge is re-sealed with a multi-step process: edge cleaning and plasma treatment, dispensing of a UV-curable sealant (with a moisture-barrier secondary sealant where required), then UV and thermal curing. The sealed edge is covered by the mechanical bezel and gasket.
Which reliability tests can the module pass?Cut-and-sealed modules are validated against industrial-grade test conditions:
| Test | Reference Standard / Condition |
|---|---|
| High temperature operation | 50 °C, 240 h |
| High temperature storage | 70 °C, 240 h |
| Low temperature storage | -20 °C, 240 h |
| Damp heat (double 85) | 85 °C / 85% RH, 240 h (non-operating or per customer level) |
| Thermal shock | -20 °C ↔ 70 °C, 30 min dwell, 100 cycles (IEC 60068-2-14) |
| Vibration | IEC 60068-2-6 (sine) / 2-64 (random) |
| Mechanical shock | IEC 60068-2-27 |
| Packing drop test | ISTA 1A / 2A |
Test reports from comparable cutting projects are available on request under NDA.
Is there a risk of light leakage or color shift at the cut edge? This is controlled through the light-shielding tape and frame design at the sealed edge, a sealant compatible with the polarizer and backlight, and 100% optical inspection (Mura, edge brightness uniformity, color shift). Bezel and mechanical fixing recommendations are provided with the sample.
