The Problem With Standard Panels

Standard 16:9 and 16:10 panels come in a limited catalog of sizes. Your product does not.

Whether you are building a shelf-edge sign, a vending machine header, a transit information strip, an elevator banner or an industrial control front panel, the available space is often long, narrow and non-standard. Forcing a standard panel into it means wasted screen area, an oversized enclosure, or a compromised industrial design.

Demand for stretched bar displays keeps growing across retail, transportation, hospitality and industrial automation, because one panoramic screen replaces several conventional monitors and turns awkward spaces into high-impact content areas. Yet catalog bar displays only cover a handful of sizes, and lead times for new tooling from panel makers are long and volume-gated.

That is the gap we fill. We take proven, mass-produced TFT-LCD panels and precision-cut them to your exact dimensions, then rebuild the module so it performs like a native part.

What We Can Deliver

CapabilityWhat it means for your project
Custom sizeAny length and height within the limits of the source panel and its internal layout. We confirm feasibility before you spend on samples.
Custom aspect ratio16:9 → 21:9, 24:9, 32:9, 16:4.5, 16:3, 16:2 and beyond, in landscape or portrait.
Wide size rangeTypical projects range from 7" to 65"+ diagonal equivalents. Common bar sizes include 8.8", 10.3", 12.3", 19", 23", 27.6", 28", 34", 37", 37.6", 38", 47", 58".
Custom brightness300 to 3000 cd/m², from indoor retail to sunlight-readable.
Custom interfaceLVDS, eDP, MIPI (via bridge), HDMI, DP, VGA.
Full integrationBacklight, driver board, touch, cover glass, optical bonding, media player and enclosure.

A note on "any size." Every panel has a fixed layout of pixel array, gate/source lines, seal lines and driver bonding areas. The final cut size is limited by where those structures sit. Our feasibility review tells you, within 2–3 business days, what is achievable, and if your target cannot be cut safely from one panel, we recommend a better source panel instead of forcing a risky design.

How Panel Cutting Works: Our Process

1. Feasibility review (2–3 business days).Send your target outline and requirements. We check the target against the source panel's layout, including the array and gate/source area, seal line and driver IC/COF region, and confirm what can be cut.

2. Cutting solution selection.

MethodBest forTypical tolerance
Mechanical wheel (scribe & break)Straight cuts, cost-sensitive volume programs±0.1 – 0.2 mm
Ultra-fast laserTight tolerances, narrow edges, minimal chippingDown to ±0.05 mm

3. Precision cutting and edge finishing.Edge chipping and micro-cracks are inspected under microscope. Edges are polished or chamfered as the design requires.

4. Secondary sealing. The exposed cell edge is sealed with UV-curable adhesive using precision dispensing, with an optional moisture barrier for high-humidity environments. This protects against liquid crystal leakage and moisture ingress.

5. Module re-integration.We rebuild the backlight (light guide, films, reflector, LED strip), driver electronics, FPC/COF connection and mechanical structure to the new outline, with light shielding to avoid edge light leakage and Mura.

6. Optical and reliability verification.Uniformity, color shift and edge-area leakage checks against a golden sample, followed by environmental testing.

7. Prototype, pilot run, mass production.Approval at every gate, with full traceability.

Reliability You Can Verify

Custom-cut modules are validated against commercial and industrial test plans, tailored to your standard. Typical conditions:

Overview

The 37.6" Ultra-Wide Stretched LCD is a purpose-built TFT-LCD solution for applications where the available aperture is long and narrow: shelf-edge and end-cap retail signage, transit information strips, vending and kiosk headers, elevator and lobby banners, menu boards, ticketing terminals and industrial HMI control panels.

Its 1920 × 810 native resolution delivers a true panoramic canvas with sharp text and graphics. Rather than scaling a 16:9 image and wasting screen area, you display content at its natural aspect ratio, so one screen does the job of two or three conventional monitors.

Every unit is supported by our engineering team from feasibility review through sampling and mass production, so your project stays predictable.

Key Features

  • Ultra-wide panoramic format. A format designed for narrow, elongated installation spaces where standard panels cannot be used.

  • Full customization. Panel size, cut dimensions, brightness, interface, bezel and touch options can be tailored to your enclosure and BOM.

  • High-brightness options. Choose 700 to 1000 cd/m² for bright retail floors, storefronts and semi-outdoor environments.

  • Wide viewing angle. IPS/ADS-type panel technology, typically 178° (H) / 178° (V), for consistent color and contrast from any angle, in landscape or portrait.

  • LED backlight. Long-life edge or direct LED backlight, typically 50,000 hours or more to half brightness.

  • 24/7 operation ready. Designed for continuous duty in commercial and industrial deployments.

  • Flexible integration. Open-frame, VESA-mount, or fully enclosed versions. Optional driver board, media player, touch panel, cover glass and optical bonding.

  • Long-term supply commitment. Stable BOM control and change notification (PCN) for project-based programs.

Engineering & Manufacturing Capability: Answers to Common Project Questions

Custom-sized stretched displays are made by precision-cutting a standard TFT-LCD cell, re-sealing it, and re-integrating the backlight and electronics. Below are the questions our engineering customers ask most often, and how we handle each stage.

1. Process Feasibility & Cutting Solution

Which cutting method do you use?The method is selected per project after reviewing your target dimensions and the source panel.

MethodBest suited forNotes
Mechanical wheel cutting (scribe & break)Straight-line cuts, high-volume programsCost-effective, proven, mature process
Ultra-fast (picosecond) laser cuttingTight tolerances, minimal chipping, narrow-edge designsHigher precision and cleaner edges, higher unit cost

What size and tolerance can be achieved?Typical cutting tolerance is ±0.1 mm to ±0.2 mm for wheel cutting and down to ±0.05 mm for laser cutting, depending on glass thickness and layout. Final tolerance is confirmed in the drawing approval stage.

Will the cut interfere with the Gate/Source lines or the TFT array?Feasibility depends on the source panel's internal layout. Our engineers verify that the cut line stays clear of the Gate/Source fan-out, the seal line, the TFT array and the driver IC/COF bonding area. Where the cut cannot go, we recommend an alternative source panel or layout before any sample is built.

What do we need from you for the feasibility review?

  • Target outline drawing (2D/3D, DXF/STEP/PDF) with active area position and tolerances

  • Required resolution, aspect ratio and interface

  • Brightness, operating temperature and environmental requirements

  • Touch or cover glass requirements (if any)

  • Expected annual volume and project schedule

  • Source panel model, if you have a preferred one (otherwise we will recommend one)

Typical feasibility feedback: within 2–3 business days.

How do you control edge quality and micro-cracks?Cut edges are inspected under microscope for chipping, crack propagation and edge flatness. Typical control targets are edge chipping ≤ 0.1 mm and no visible crack extension into the active area or seal region. Edges are then processed with polishing or chamfering when the structure requires it, and 100% visual inspection is applied on the cut edge.

2. Reliability & Sealing

How is the cut edge sealed against liquid crystal leakage and moisture?Following cutting, the exposed cell edge is sealed with a secondary sealing process using UV-curable adhesive (precision dispensing), with an optional moisture barrier coating or edge-cover structure for high-humidity environments. Cure profile, adhesive thickness and coverage are controlled and audited in production.

What reliability testing do you run?Custom-cut modules are validated against commercial and industrial-grade test plans. Typical test conditions are listed below and can be tailored to your standard.

TestTypical Condition
High-temperature operation+50 °C to +70 °C, 240–500 h
Low-temperature operation0 °C to −20 °C, 240–500 h
High-temperature / high-humidity+60 °C / 90% RH, 240 h · +85 °C / 85% RH, 500 h (industrial option)
Thermal shock−20 °C ↔ +60 °C (or −30 °C ↔ +80 °C), 30 min dwell, 100 cycles
Storage (high / low temp)+70 °C / −30 °C, 240 h each
Vibration1.5 Grms, 10–500 Hz, 3 axes (random)
Mechanical shock50 G, 11 ms, 3 axes
Drop (packaged)Per ISTA-2A, 1.0 m drop sequence
ESD±8 kV contact / ±15 kV air (IEC 61000-4-2)

Reliability reports of comparable cut-panel projects are available under NDA, including pass/fail results and post-test inspection data (leakage, delamination, optical shift).

Will the cut edge cause light leakage or color shift (Mura)?Edge light leakage and Mura are addressed at the design level, not corrected after the fact:

  • Light-shielding tape, black edge treatment or bezel design at the cut side

  • Optimized backlight (LGP and film) sizing and reflector matching to the new outline

  • Edge-area optical inspection at 0%, 50% and 100% gray levels, plus a color-uniformity check

  • Golden-sample comparison approved with you before mass production

3. Cost, Yield & Lead Time

ItemTypical Reference
NRE / toolingProject-based; typically USD 3,000 – 12,000 depending on size, cutting method, fixtures and backlight redesign. Waived or partially refunded once volume commitments are met.
Prototype build (first 20 pcs)3–5 weeks from drawing approval (feasibility review in 2–3 business days)
Engineering verification & reliability test3–4 weeks in parallel with or following samples
Pilot run100–500 pcs, 4–6 weeks
Mass-production lead time6–8 weeks after PO and forecast confirmation
Expected mass-production yield≥ 90–95% for stable, matured cut-panel programs (from final module, after process stabilization)
MOQTypically 300–500 pcs per order (lower for standard cut sizes; prototype quantities available)
